Charlie’s story

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, or a life-challenging illness, the whole family feels the impact. Siblings can carry their own worries, guilt, and unspoken fears as they try to stay strong for everyone else. Charlie’s brother, Howard, was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in December 2023. The family received support from Momentum during Howard’s treatment, which he has now completed. Charlie, 17, shares his story and talks about the value of true friendship during this time.

At just 14 years old, Holly was diagnosed with leukaemia, and during that challenging time, her family received vital support from Momentum. Nine years later, Holly has now graduated from university, built a successful career in healthcare communications, and volunteers as a Young Ambassador for Momentum. She shares her story.

Isabelle’s story

Poppy’s story

Six-year-old Poppy from Woking, Surrey, was diagnosed with Wilms tumour four years ago, when she was just two years old. After surgery and chemotherapy, Poppy completed treatment in 2023. Momentum was there for Poppy and her family during this time, and the charity remains close to their hearts. Michelle, Poppy’s mum, shares their story.
