An evening of beautiful music
A spectacular evening of opera and music has raised just over £6,000 for Momentum – amazing!

Taking place on Sunday 18 October, the event saw more than 100 supporters descend upon the beautiful setting of St Mark’s Church in Surbiton, London, as they enjoyed more than 2 hours of wonderful music.
The evening featured performances by soloists and chorus members representing some of the world’s leading opera houses and renowned musical institutions.
Among the talented artists who performed were Edward Freeman, Aimee Skye Wilmot, Hector Price, Marija Struckova, Siyuan Xu, Rosanna Harris and Jean Rigby, a wonderful Ambassador for our charity. The music was conducted by Stephen Harris, and presented by renowned actor Michael Simkins, both of whom are also Momentum Ambassadors.
Howard, 15, who was supported by Momentum when he was going through cancer treatment two years ago, shared his story beautifully, touching on the support he received from the charity, what he has learnt, and how different life looks for him now.
Talking about the evening, our Founder, Bianca Effemey OBE, who organised the event said: “It was an amazing evening, and the amount raised was fantastic. Eighteen months ago, we thought we might never see the opera night again. But thanks to the incredible generosity of Stephen and Jean, the Momentum Chorus, the soloists and pianists all came together once more to create another wonderful evening, hosted by Michael Simkins.”

Bianca continued: “Having founded Momentum, seeing so many friends from the music industry remain so dedicated to our charity is truly awe-inspiring. Stephen and Jean’s commitment over so many years makes me feel incredibly humble. Music has always played such an important part in Momentum. It brings people together, creates special moments for families and gives everyone the opportunity to pause, reflect and share something meaningful. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has been involved and helped make this evening so special. It means more than you will ever know.”
A huge thank you to every single person who made this event such a success – every penny will help support families with seriously ill children and those being supported by our bereavement service, Momentum Echoes.
