Fundraise with your
school or nursery
As a charity whose focus is supporting local children with cancer and other life-challenging illnesses, we’re a great fit for schools to get behind. Every pupil, parent and staff member will play a part in helping us to keep a family moving forward.

Why support Momentum?
Some schools and nurseries choose to support Momentum because someone in their community has seen firsthand how cancer or another serious illness can affect a child and their whole family.
Treatment and hospital appointments can disrupt a child’s education, friendships and everyday routines. They may spend long periods away from school, find it difficult to keep up with their work or feel disconnected from their friends. Brothers and sisters can also be affected, coping with changes at home, time apart from their family and worries about their sibling.
By fundraising for Momentum, your school or nursery can help children and their siblings stay connected with friendships, school life and the activities they enjoy, while helping the whole family access practical and emotional support throughout treatment and beyond.
Learning, teamwork and local impact
Fundraising gives children and young people the opportunity to help others while developing empathy, teamwork and a stronger connection with their local community.
It can bring pupils, families and staff together around a shared purpose, with activities adapted to suit different ages and abilities. Whether your setting organises one special day or supports Momentum throughout the year, everyone can play a part.

How we’ll support your school or nursery
Our dedicated schools fundraiser will help you choose an activity, plan your fundraising and find age-appropriate ways to involve pupils.
We can provide fundraising packs, posters, parent communications, collection tins and other materials. We can also share classroom resources, support school assemblies and, where possible, arrange a visit from Mo the Owl.
Throughout your fundraising, we’ll be available to answer questions, celebrate your achievements and show pupils how their support is helping local families.
Ways your school or nursery can get involved

Charity of the Year
Build a year of fundraising around events, challenges and collections, giving pupils, families and staff plenty of opportunities to participate.

Join Move for Momentum
Get pupils walking, running, dancing or moving in any way they choose during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It is a fun and inclusive way to support local families while contributing towards the 30 minutes of daily physical activity recommended for primary school pupils.

Organise a sale or event
Raise money through a bake sale, school fair, student art show, concert, quiz, talent show or another event involving your wider school community.

Hold a special dress-up day
Organise a pyjama day, Christmas jumper day, non-uniform day or themed dress-up day in return for a small donation.

Take on a sponsored challenge
Plan a sponsored walk, fun run, relay, readathon or playground challenge. For a bigger adventure, follow the example of one of our school communities, which brought pupils and teachers together to climb Snowdon for Momentum.

Learn and raise awareness
Use our age-appropriate classroom resources or invite Momentum to speak at an assembly, helping pupils learn about our work and how they can make a difference for local families.
Resources to support your fundraising
We’ve created a range of resources to make fundraising simple, enjoyable and successful. You’ll find fundraising tips, posters, sponsorship support, collection guidance and other useful materials to help your group get started.

“It was easy to organise our Move for Momentum event… We kept it simple and that worked for us.”
