Florist Norma Pelaez, whose granddaughter Carina sadly died four years ago, kindly offered to hold a Christmas decoration-making evening hosted free of charge by The Stables restaurant in Hampton Court. It was a special evening for her and her bereaved daughter Nicole Marcangelo.

Momentum Echoes has a special place in our hearts. They have supported us so hugely since we lost our beautiful Carina. The Christmas evening was another opportunity for us mums to meet up and do something creative, and therapeutic. It is always such a support to meet with other mums who are suffering a similar loss. Spending time with people who really understand is so important.

Nicole, bereaved mum

Mums, grandmothers and friends came together to make beautiful festive door and table decorations and to support each other through a time of year which is particularly difficult for them.

Momentum Family Support Worker Niki Mason said: “It was such a special support group meeting, where those who had suffered the unimaginable death of a child bonded over creating and making the most beautiful Christmas decorations. There was loss but also a huge amount of love in the room that evening.”

At any one time Momentum Echoes supports almost 100 bereaved families in SW London and Surrey, offering practical and emotional support, including counselling, therapy for siblings, support group meetings and respite breaks at Momentum’s New Forest holiday homes and on its canal boat.
