Pirates and Mermaids set sail
- Family trips and experiences
- Respite breaks
Shepperton Marina is home to our 40ft riverboat, and we are incredibly grateful to their wonderful team who generously support Momentum with fundraising activities throughout the year.
Everyone got into the spirit of the day, with children and adults dressing up in themed outfits – it was great to see so many pirate hats, stripey trousers and brightly coloured shimmering mermaid inspired costumes!
The afternoon was a relaxed opportunity for families to come together to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Marina and the River Thames, hopefully giving them a much-needed break from the challenges that come with day-to-day life.
Families enjoyed a picnic, a fun treasure hunt, bubble games, football, colouring, and playing giant kerplunk, before heading out on the riverboat for a mini cruise along the Thames.
Talking about the day, one mum said: “It was a wonderful event that gave my child a chance to experience the boat trip and to spend time around other children. He was happy and loved experiencing the day amongst others. The boat was a real hit; he didn’t want to get off! For myself as mum, it provided a chance to relax on the boat and enjoy peaceful surroundings. The picnic was a chance to chat to other families like mine, which always helps to remind you that you aren’t alone on this journey.”
A huge thank you to Shepperton Marina for their ongoing support and to the wonderful Momentum riverboat volunteers for giving up their time to ensure everyone had a fun and safe experience onboard.
Thank you to the National Lottery Awards for All England Fund for generously supporting our riverboat activities over the last 12 months and helping us make a positive difference in our communities.
