Payroll Giving: Ongoing support for families, every month.
Payroll Giving
Updated for 2026 payroll giving conversations.
Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-efficient way for employees to support Momentum Children’s Charity through small, regular monthly donations taken directly from their salary before tax.
Also known as Give As You Earn, payroll giving helps provide reliable, long-term funding so we can continue supporting families of seriously ill children when they need us most.
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving allows employees to donate to charity directly from their salary before tax is deducted. This means donations cost less to the individual, while charities receive the full value of the gift.
Payroll Giving is set up through employers’ payroll systems using
HMRC-approved Payroll Giving agencies and runs automatically each month.
Example
- A basic-rate taxpayer donating £10 per month will see just £8 deducted from their take-home pay.
- Momentum Children’s Charity receives the full £10.
Savings vary depending on your tax rate.
We’ve created a simple one-page explainer that can be passed around teams to explain how Payroll Giving works and the impact it has on families.
Why Payroll Giving matters to Momentum families
Families referred to Momentum Children’s Charity often need support for months or years, not just during treatment, but before, during and after hospital care.
Payroll Giving provides a predictable, ongoing income stream that allows us to plan ahead, fund long-term services and ensure no family is left unsupported.
Regular ongoing Payroll Giving donations can help fund:
Family support workers
From the moment a family is referred to us by one of our partner hospitals, our Family Support Team are there every step of the way, for as long as we’re needed.
Hospital partnerships
Our partnerships with NHS hospitals across London, Surrey and Sussex help make sure every hospital experience is as positive as it can be.
Respite breaks
Holiday homes and river boat breaks. A few days away from treatment and stress, while staying safe and close to home.
Family trips and experiences
A little lift and something out of the ordinary, so families can escape the day-to-day and make memories together.
Social work service
Specialist social work support for families who need enhanced advice, advocacy and practical help.
Bereavement support
Momentum Echoes supports families through the heartbreak of losing their child, for as long as support is needed.
