Moments of happiness on the water over Easter
- Respite breaks
- Family wellbeing
Setting off from Shepperton Marina, each family enjoyed a peaceful two-hour journey along the River Thames, sharing precious time together away from everyday pressures.
Alongside taking in the beautiful riverside scenery, children were invited to take the helm and experience steering the boat for themselves, while also learning about the skills and teamwork involved in being part of a crew.
Hayley, from Surrey, enjoyed a boat trip with her three children and two other family members. She shared: “The boat trip made a really meaningful difference to me and my family. It gave us the chance to do something completely different- something we wouldn’t normally be able to arrange ourselves, especially considering our son’s care needs. Because of that, days out can often feel limited, so this experience felt extra special.
She continued: “It was a truly memorable day for all of us. Every one of my children enjoyed it, and it was wonderful to see them all relaxed, happy, and sharing the experience together. Since then, they’ve already been asking when we can go on another trip, which says it all about how much it meant to them. Overall, it gave us a rare opportunity to spend quality time together as a family, doing something fun and out of the ordinary, and it’s something we’ll all remember for a long time.”
Another family who enjoyed a riverboat cruise added: “Thank you so much for organising our trip on Moments on the River. We haven’t had a great deal of good days over the last few months but yesterday was so special. Our daughters had such a lovely time, and the volunteers were really wonderful. They were so patient letting the girls steer the boat and we all had a wonderful afternoon.”
Our boat trips are available for all families supported by Momentum, and they take place throughout Spring, Summer, and some of Autumn. The boat holds up to 10 people, which includes children and two volunteer crew members. Find out more here
