You might be used to seeing Sam around our partner hospitals, but her new role takes her support into the heart of the community. Sam is now making home visits and carrying out initial assessments to ensure each family gets the personalised support they need. It is a hands-on role and Sam is already making a big impact.

Sam is also helping families access even more support by connecting them with other charities, agencies, and our own specialist Social Worker. Sam also organises and hosts events where parents can meet, connect, and share their journeys.

Talking about her new role, Sam said: “I know how important it is to continue supporting families after they have stopped their intense treatment in hospital. This role is vital as so many families feel they need extra support when they are at home. Many parents have told us that although their intentions are always good, friends and family do not always understand how long their journey is, and once they are home, there is often still a long road ahead.”
