Inspiring individuals cross finish line at London Marathon

Taking on a challenge like the London Marathon is no mean feat – it requires months of training through the winter, resilience, self-motivation and determination. Every member of our team showed these qualities from the outset.
We’re so proud of the 18 superstar fundraisers who ran for Team Momentum – to date, they have raised more than £40,000 which is incredible! Every penny of their sponsorship money will all go towards helping families with seriously ill children. Thank you to every single person who generously sponsored our runners.
As they made their way around the 26.2 miles course, marathon participants took in some of London’s most treasured sights including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace.
Cameron, from Chessington, Surrey, crossed the finish line in 4hrs 49 minutes. He said: “This was my first marathon, and it was a huge mental challenge, especially from around mile 15, all the way to the end. I just kept thinking about all the families that Momentum supports and about how strong the children are, and that really kept me going. I spotted Howard and his mum, a family I had supported when I worked at Momentum – seeing them really lifted my spirits. Thank you to every single person who sponsored me – to date, I have raised just over £3,000. To anyone thinking about entering the ballot for next year’s event, I would say, do it! It is an experience you will never forget.”
Sabrina, from Teddington, London, completed the event in 3hrs 33 minutes. She said: “I found out about Momentum through a friend and could see what amazing work they do to support people in the local community. There was a great vibe in London on Sunday, and a real sense of everyone coming together for amazing causes. Thousands of people lined the streets to support all the runners – you really get to see the best of people at these kinds of events. Thank you to all my friends and family who sponsored me and helped me raise more than £2,700.”
A big thank you to our cheer squad of 15 brilliant volunteers who all stylishly carried off their bright green Momentum tabards as they cheered on our team, lifting their spirits all the way to the end.
