Raising funds and awareness at special cricket match

“On Friday, 1 August, we held a cricket match at the beautiful Wormsley Cricket ground in Buckinghamshire. The match was Old Malvernian alumni vs ‘The rest of the World’. My dad played for the former, and I thought this would be an opportunity to raise both awareness and funds to help Momentum Children’s Charity. I chose 1 August because it would have been my brother Louis’ 6th birthday. After he passed away, and for the last four years, Momentum has continually supported our family during our darkest times.

I set up a Momentum stand at the event with balloons, charity information, and a picture of Louis. As a young Ambassador, I wore a Momentum T-shirt and throughout the day more and more people came to chat to me about Louis and Momentum to learn more about the charity. I may even have been able to recruit some people for this month’s ‘Move for Momentum’ fundraising campaign.

My dad wore a Momentum T-shirt whilst he was playing cricket and his team ended up winning a very close game. We raised awareness and some money and overall all I think it was a great day for everyone. We were able to make a difficult day as enjoyable as possible. Thank you, Momentum.”

A huge thank you to Thea, her parents, and everyone who took part in the special cricket match which raised more than £450 for us – simply wonderful.
