Brick by Brick
- Bereavement support
The event was organised by one of our supported families, Jane and John Carpenter, through their own charity, James’ Box of Smiles, which they established in memory of their son, James.
A passionate LEGO fan, James inspired Jane and John to create these special workshops for children’s groups, sharing his love of creativity and bringing moments of joy to others.
The morning offered children the opportunity to get creative with LEGO, providing space to build, chat and share memories. They could choose to follow a LEGO set or design their own unique creations.
Alongside them, parents joined in the fun, working together and supporting one another, with one group proudly constructing an impressive ramp lined with LEGO cars.
Charlotte Roberts, Bereavement Family Support Worker at Momentum said: “For many young people, meeting others who understand their grief without having to explain it, means a lot. Watching them laugh, build and share memories was a reminder of how important events like this are. A huge thank you to Jane and John for hosting this and providing delicious LEGO themed cupcakes, and to Hampton Court Palace Golf Club for generously donating the room and refreshments.”
