Momentum’s partnership with The Athena Network started in July 2016, when one of its members, whose family Momentum has supported since 2013, introduced us to the group. Since then, the South West London Athena Network, comprising about 70 businesses based in Wimbledon, Putney, Balham and Streatham has voted Momentum as their chosen charity to support for the foreseeable future.

Julie Eltham, who has run the Athena South West London Networking Group since 2007, said: “We are ladies with big hearts and are amazing at supporting each other in business, but when a member’s little boy was diagnosed leukemia at the age of 5, it touched us all deeply.

We have always supported a charity, and have raised large sums of money for them over the years, but really didn’t feel that we made any difference. The ladies have done fun runs, walked the Great Wall of China, and raised money from a variety of events. We decided as a group that we wanted to support a small charity where we felt we could make a difference, and see that we were adding and helping in all aspects. We also really wanted it to be local, so we could be more hands on. We were introduced to Momentum, and with it being both small and local, we feel the charity really fits all our family values, and that we can help and make a big difference.

We are supported and kept up to date with what the charity is doing and its needs. For us Athena ladies, it is the perfect fit, and we know first hand what this wonderful charity has done, and is still doing for so many families in the SW London area.”

On 13 December 2016, at the Athena North meets Athena South Christmas Party, the assembled ladies raised over £2,000 at a live auction, with all the proceeds going to Momentum!
