All aboard! 15 families take a magical train ride
- Family trips and experiences

Known as ‘Kent’s Mainline in Miniature’ the world famous one-third full size steam & diesel locomotives power their way along the 13½ miles of track from the Cinque Port town of Hythe, terminating in Dungeness; a national nature reserve.
One of our very generous long-term supporters, Phil Swallow, kindly donated the train ride to Momentum and we invited 65 people aboard.
It was a chance for our supported families to have the opportunity to relax and spend some quality time together, giving them a break from the stress and worry that comes with having a child who is seriously unwell.
One family shared: “We had amazing, very much needed family day out. Loved it! It was a great event, which I would recommend to any family!”
Another parent added: “We really enjoyed attending this event as a family, all together. It brought us a day of enjoyment, in this difficult moment.”
Summarising their experience, another family said: “It made a huge difference doing something fun and new that we had never done before, taking our minds off everything that’s going on. We enjoyed it just as much as the children.”
A big thank you to Phil Swallow, Alex the train driver, and everyone at Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway – you gave our supported families a day to remember.
