The day began at the Community Space where families spent time as a group creating beautiful memory bracelets called Beads of Hope. It was an opportunity for siblings and parents to talk about their loved ones and the treasured memories they have of them, as well as making connections with other families who have very sadly lost a child.

Then it was time to enjoy the rest of the day at the zoo, visiting all the amazing animals. With over 10,000 animals to see from tiny marching leafcutter ants to a giant silverback gorilla – there was plenty to keep everyone busy!

Both children and some parents went home with their bespoke memory bracelets, a packet of sunflower seeds to plant, and hopefully plenty of lovely new memories.

Talking about the day, one of our families who attended said: “Dan and Oscar had the best fun, Oscar been talking about his trip to the zoo non-stop, I adore his Rory & Oscar bracelet.  Thank you so much for allowing us to be invited along and we look forward to the next outing.”

A heartfelt thank you to London Zoo for providing us with the space to begin the day and for generously donating tickets for our families to enjoy time together.
