Chelsea FC players with a Momentum-supported family.

Little Theo, from south-west London, was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year when he was just eight months old. Since then, his family has been supported by Momentum, both during hospital visits and at home.

In December 2024, Theo had the chance to meet some of the stars from the Chelsea FC Women’s team when they visited the children’s ward at Kingston Hospital. As a family of Chelsea supporters, Theo and his parents treasured the opportunity to spend time with the players and were very grateful to them for taking time out of their busy schedules to bring joy to Theo and other children in hospital.

After learning how much the experience meant to Theo and his family, the Chelsea FC Foundation kindly offered to arrange a second meet-and-greet for the football-loving toddler.

During the visit in December, Theo enjoyed a kickabout and joined in games with Chelsea FC Women players including Lauren James, Sandi Baltimore, Hannah Hampton, Niamh Charles, Aggie Beever-Jones and Millie Bright.

Talking about the experience, Theo’s mum, Paige, said: “We had a brilliant time – Theo loved kicking the ball around and playing with some of the team. We heard from former Chelsea players who shared the history of the game and spoke about how much women’s football has evolved. We first met Lauren James and Millie Bright over a year ago, and it meant so much to us that they remembered Theo and were genuinely interested in how he was doing. As a parent, when your child is very unwell it can feel incredibly isolating, so being able to enjoy opportunities like this now Theo is better means the world. It was an experience I’ll always remember, and I can’t wait to show Theo the photos when he’s older.  Thank you to the players and everyone else involved in organising this.”

A huge thank you to the Chelsea FC Foundation, Chelsea FC Academy, and especially to the players who so generously gave their time to make it a truly unforgettable day for Theo.
