Philanthropy and Major Gifts
Momentum Children’s Charity works with philanthropists and major donors who want to make a meaningful, long-term difference for children and families facing serious illness or bereavement.
Major gifts enable us to plan ahead, strengthen vital services, and provide consistent emotional and practical support when families need it most.
We define major gifts as donations of £1,000 and over.
Become a Major Donor for Momentum Children’s Charity
We are grateful to the community of major donors and philanthropic supporters whose generosity helps Momentum Children’s Charity deliver life-changing support across hospitals and local communities.
While every donation matters, major gifts allow us to invest in long-term programmes, specialist staff, and sustainable services that support families not just today, but well into the future.
Why major gifts matter to families
Major donations play a vital role in helping children’s charities provide stable, high-quality support.
Through major giving, supporters help Momentum Children’s Charity to:
- Provide emotional and practical support for families facing childhood cancer or life-challenging conditions
- Deliver specialist bereavement support for parents, siblings, and carers
- Fund trained family support staff working in hospitals and communities
- Respond quickly when families need urgent help
Your philanthropy helps ensure no family faces serious illness or bereavement alone.
What does major giving involve?
We believe philanthropy is personal. We take time to understand what motivates you and how you would like your support to make a difference.
Major donors may choose to support Momentum Children’s Charity through:
- A one-off major donation
- Regular monthly giving
- A multi-year pledge
- Giving through a private trust
- Sharing professional expertise, time, or community connections
There is no single approach. We work with you to find what feels right.
Our commitment to Major Donors
We build long-term, trusted relationships with our major donors. In return for your support, we commit to:
Listen
We take the time to understand what inspires you and help you support the area of our work you feel most connected to, whether that is a specific programme or unrestricted support where the need is greatest.
Involve
We offer opportunities to engage with our work in ways that suit you. This may include time with senior leadership or our advisory board, invitations to small events, or visits to see our work with children and families first hand.
Share
We provide regular updates and impact reporting so you can see clearly how your major gift is making a difference.
Increase your donation with Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid can increase the value of your donation by 20% at no extra cost to you.
For example:
- A £5,000 donation becomes £6,000
- A £10,000 donation becomes £12,500
Gift Aid helps your philanthropy go further in supporting children and families.
