“Harry was a huge personality – he was a one-off, cheeky, charming, kind and clever boy with lots of friends. When he died, we were in a state of shock – Harry hadn’t been unwell but suddenly, he wasn’t with us anymore.

We started receiving support from Momentum, quite soon after everything had happened, and it was our Support Worker from the charity who suggested creating a Precious Moments Tribute Page in Harry’s memory. I knew it was something I was keen to do as I wanted everyone to always remember Harry.

At the time, we weren’t in the right state of mind to even attempt setting up the page, but someone from Momentum guided us through it and it really was quite straightforward.

Just after he died, we were inundated with messages from friends, family, neighbours – everyone who knew Harry. They all wanted to do something, but no one quite knew what to do. For me, being able to refer them to the tribute page was really helpful – they could make a donation, post photos, videos or messages about Harry, or simply look at memories that others had shared about him.

At first, I added lots of photos of Harry to the page – covering some of our most treasured times with him from when he was a baby, right up until he was 13 years old. Although I don’t tend to add any more photos myself, I still visit the tribute page every day. It helps me to hear Harry’s voice in the videos and see his face in the photos.

The tribute page is open to everyone at any time and that is something that feels quite special. Some of Harry’s school friends recently found his page by chance and started posting old videos of Harry in the classroom. It means the world to me that everyone still has Harry in their thoughts, and it is always wonderful to see new photos and videos of him.

We remember Harry every day – we always have a candle lit in the house and have Harry’s handprint set in a cast. Harry is buried at a local cemetery in a lovely spot where the sun shines. There is a beautiful tree there with wind chimes, and when the wind blows, it feels like Harry is talking to me. I visit him every day.

Harry had played rugby for London Irish Amateur RFC since he was five years old, and was a fantastic, versatile player who really got stuck into every game. Harry’s teammates have his initials on their rugby shirts, and some have them on their shoes too.

We organise different fundraisers in Harry’s memory and most recently held a comedy night for Momentum and another charity we support. We always update the tribute page with details of the events.

I am currently staying at one of Momentum’s respite cabins, my other son is away, and it was a difficult time for my husband and I to be at home without the boys. We are at Church Farm Holiday Village and it is beautiful, calm, and just what we needed.”
